2024 K300 Preview

It's race day, folks! At 8:00 PM 23 teams will start on their journey up the Kuskokwim. Bethel is buzzing with anticipation as mushers and volunteers make last minute preparations for what promises to be an exciting weekend.

It will be a traditional K300 start with mushers leaving two at a time from the start line on the river, near First National Bank Alaska. Emcees Myron and Andy Angstman will provide commentary for in person spectators.

From the start mushers travel upriver to Straight Slough, then they'll continue upriver until they get on the Gweek River. At roughly the 20 mile mark, teams will turn onto an overland trail behind the villages of Akiachak and Akiak. Below Tuluksak they'll return to the Kusko then pass through the Tuluksak Checkpoint and quickly return to the Kuskokwim, bypassing Little Bogus Creek.

From there the K300 trail continues up the Kuskokwim to Big Bogus Creek, past the traditional Bogus Creek race checkpoint and on to Kalskag on the Kusko. From Kalskag they will travel to Aniak via the river and then will return to Kalskag on the via the Whitefish Lake Loop. From Kalskag they will follow the same route downriver to Bethel.

Live-streaming:

Along with KYUK we are offering expanded live-stream coverage of the race this year. KYUK will have a multi camera feed from the start and finish of the K300 (and the Akiak Dash), while K300 volunteers will for the first time ever provide live-stream coverage from the K300 checkpoints. Tune in on Facebook to catch all the coverage!
