Schouviller Wassilie Jr. (along with second rider Blake Wassilie) took first place in the Doubles Race today, shaking up the Delta Championship Series standings with their first win of the season. Raymond Alexie (with Thaddeus Chaney) took second, followed by Mike Williams Jr. and his son Daniel. Alexie holds a narrow lead in the DCS with 38 points to Williams' 36. Full DCS standings below.
It was a beautiful day on the trail and we were delighted to see all 9 teams in the race use the opportunity to give some youngsters their first real racing experience (even if some of the younger mushers did fall asleep).
Up next: The Campout Race, date tbd. We'll be keeping a close eye on weather and conditions and announce the schedule as soon as possible.
